Do Not Be Conformed To This World...

The Risk Of Recovery

THE RISK OF RECOVERY

re·cov·er·y / riˈkəvərē/ noun /

1.       a return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength.

2.       the action or process of regaining possession or control of something stolen or lost.

Synonyms:  retrieval, regaining, repossession, getting back, reclamation, recouping, redemption, recuperation.

I am reminded of the photos that many of us have seen floating around Social Media were young girls have puckered theirs lips to look pouty and have turned in their knees to look pigeon toed.  I often wonder why this seems to be so appealing to so many people.  Particularly young people; particularly young girls.  It seems due to immaturity; they are poorly and inaffectively mimicking the stances and nuances of supermodels who lend their image to the many internet and grocery store magazines and photos.  Yet I want to ask if they realize they are reflecting extremely subpar images of something that is already make believe.

And so when I look at my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ; I see many of the same behaviors going on.

How?  Glad you asked.

1.  Many are mimicking a saved, healed and delivered lifestyle that doesn’t actually seem attainable to them.  Hence the mimicking.

2.  Many are yet still immature.  And lastly 3.  The reflections are of subpar images being broadcast throughout the world.

Where did we get off track?  How has this occurred?  But more importantly; how do we get back on track?  Undoubtedly time has not been taken to consider the Risk of Recovery

A risk is something that you take not really knowing the outcome however...believing that it will turn in your favor (that would be my definition).  And as you can see in the beginning of this message...Recovery is:  a return to a normal state of health, mind or strength.  The action or process of regaining possession or control of something stolen or lost.

Welp!

If we are the IMAGE OF GOD (Genesis 1:26); made in HIS LIKENESS; designed to LOOK, TALK, WALK, BREATH AND SMELL…JUST LIKE HIM…is it not time to recover, return to our NORMAL STATE, to REGAIN POSSESSION OR CONTROL of what was stolen or lost?  It doesn’t matter if it was STOLEN from us by the enemy or out of neglect we LOST it…the fact of the matter is…are you ready to run the RISK OF RECOVERY? (Joel 2:25)

God called us to be a chosen people, a royal priesthood a holy nation, a peculiar (treasured not weird) people (1 Peter 2:9)…when will you retrieve, repossess, get back, reclaim, recoup, redeem and recuperate...who you were made to be?

There is a risk of experiencing the pain of change…and there is the risk of experiencing pain of remaining the same.

We were redeemed to be saved by the work of the Cross, healed by the work of the Cross and delivered by the work of the Cross.  I suspect many have simply stopped at saved.  Not realizing, actualizing nor effectuating the payout of the REDEEMING work of the Cross to actually dig deep into our past and present wounds…pull out all of the scabs and scar tissue and heal us totally.  Nor realizing, actualizing, effectuating the payout of the REDEEMING work of the Cross to see into who we are; why we are and where we’ve been to pull out the debris and lingering soul ties to deliver us completely.

Do we run the risk of recovery and the complete work of the Cross?  Or do we simply take a partial, a piece or a portion of the promises of the Cross?

Below are a few scriptures to meditate on to begin to help in the facilitation of your recovery.  He truly desires us to free...indeed.

Whom the Son sets free; is free indeed.  John 8:36

Create in ME a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Psalm 51:10

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  Psalm 51:12

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.  Romans 8:1

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:  Who foregiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.  Psalm 103:2-4
