The Synthetic Christian…

I'm sure you're wondering why this article is title as such...what is a Synthetic Christian? Welp...let's break this term down:

Synthetics or Synthesis is the combination of two or more parts, whether by design or by natural processes. Furthermore, it may imply being prepared or made artificially, in contrast to naturally. Something made by combining different substances : not natural. Greek synthetikos of composition, component, from syntithenai to put together.

How often have we witnessed folks who are imitating Christians and have merged their own ideas with the following of Christ? These can be those folks who are steadily attempting to merge the world and the Church out of ignorance or disobedience or simply those false brethren we try to look out for. Thus we have the Synthetic Christian! Put a marker there and moving along...

Zig Ziglar said: You don’t build a business – you build people – and then people build the business.

Often times we who are gung-ho for Jesus and want to do all that we can fail to realize that sometimes we are actually doing more damage to the Body of Christ than good…yes even in our ‘good intentions’ we can mess some things up..royally.

Oftentimes we hear the call of God, become excited regarding the call of God and move hastily into a man/self-made position embedded within the Body of Christ. Well; let’s just be honest…there are some who simply went, were never sent and have moved into these positions erroneously. As a result of this premature, irrational, unholy, not-on-Heaven’s-agenda move…realization sets in that there is more work to this thing called ‘ministry’ than was initially thought. So then; because of this reality shock…there is a race to build something noteworthy around this make-shift ministry that we want to launch to the world…unfortunately we fail to build the people.

At this point not only do we have a ministry built on sinking sand…we have a people around us who have no vision, no knowledge, no leadership, no guidance, no authority and they are perishing…one by one by one by one. We have built a SYNTHETIC Christian - who has simply scratched the surface of salvation and has totally missed the very essence of God’s power to heal and deliver from the past and present hurts and pains of the world and who then imitate the fullness of Christ in an outward, religious, mechanical manner. We’re not asking for perfection here…we’re asking for an authentic Believer that walks in what God says we have...the ability to do exploits (these are conjoined twins; they are a package deal...the believer and exploits).

How ironic that even the world knows that building the people is first and foremost…If we would take the leadership quote by Mr. Ziglar and interchange the word business with ministry…what great and mighty things could we accomplish in these days for the Body of Christ?

Rather than building Sinking Sand Ministries occupied and run by Sister and Brother Synthetic Believer…let’s resolve to build people and not ministries…so that the people…with a love of God can build Christ’s Church. If we who boast of the Ascension Gift titles truly understood the Five-Fold…would we not realize that there is but one reason for these gifts, titles, positions, offices? To uproot the synthetics, build the people and flourish the Kingdom.

Ephesians 4: ¹¹ So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, ¹² to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up ¹³ until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
